By tweaking the way Firefox handles some caching functions, you can dramatically improve page load speed and even prevent Firefox from hogging your system resources while minimized.

Type in: "about:config" (without the quotes) in the Firefox Address bar and press Enter. You may get a warning message, so if you wish to continue, click on the "I'll be careful, I promise" button on the warning page.

Reduce the amount of RAM Firefox uses for its cache:

1. Find “browser.sessionhistory.max_total_viewer”
2. Set it’s numerical value to “0“ (Zero without the quotes)

Reduce RAM usage to 10MB when Firefox is minimized:

This tweak will drop Firefox’s RAM usage down to 10 Mb when minimized:

1. Right Click in the page and select New -> Boolean.
2. In the box that pops up enter “config.trim_on_minimize” (without the quotes). Press Enter.
3. Now select True and then press Enter.
4. Restart Firefox Browser for the new changes to take effect.
